United Way campaign surpasses $500K mark

Support from the community has helped push the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign forward as it enters its third week.

The annual fundraising initiative has surpassed the $500,000 mark.

Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said they're at 34 per cent of the $1.487 million goal.

He said so far, they're on pace with last year and they've seen a great response from their mail outs.

"We've had a lot of seniors and retirees dropping into the office or mailing in their donation which is really nice," said Doyle. "If you want to stop by, please do, we would love to have a chat and talk about where the money goes, what we do with it, what programs we fund."

Doyle said the totals from the Black and White Game held on August 31 are in, and $5,017 was collected from Sarnia Sting fans.

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 17 agencies providing 29 programs and services to the community.
