Community concerns to be heard at Sarnia police town hall

The Sarnia Police Service is inviting the public to attend a community town hall this week.

Members of the police services board, Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis and other members of the team will provide community updates on key topics on Thursday, September 5.

Some of the topics expected to be discussed include encampment response, such as Rainbow Park, catch and release, the impacts of decriminalization and the challenges for those who live and work in the downtown core.

"Complex issues that impact the safety and wellbeing of communities cannot be addressed by any one organization or sector. It requires the collective efforts of many partners working towards common goals, objectives and outcomes. The Sarnia Police Service recognizes the importance of working with our community toward viable solutions, built upon open and candid communication. It is important that we make ourselves available to answer questions, provide facts, and share some of the challenges we face as police," said Police Chief Derek Davis.

If you have a specific concern or issue you would like to see addressed, you can email your questions to SPSTownHall@police.sarnia.on.ca.

The public forum at the Royal SCITS Academy on Wellington Street is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
