A Sarnia police cruiser was struck by an alleged thief Saturday evening.
Officers responded to a retail theft in progress in the area of Quinn Drive and Lambton Mall Road at around 5 p.m.
A resident had observed suspicious behaviour of a vehicle parking at the back of a large retail store, then the occupants parked, and "jogged" around to the front and entered the business.
It's alleged that once inside, they filled a cart with high-end tools, and broke out a rear security door to their waiting vehicle and fled.
Responding officers located the suspect vehicle described as a red Ford Bronco and attempted to stop it, however it kept on going and hit the bumper of a police vehicle resulting in minor damage. No injuries were reported.
A short pursuit of the suspects was called off due to concerns for public safety.
Police said the vehicle from Brampton had the licence plate 6302NT, which does not belong to that vehicle.
The suspects are described as two south Asian males. The investigation is ongoing.
