UPDATE: Police trying to identify deceased in Sarnia crash

Lambton OPP continue to investigate a fatal crash that closed Highway 402 eastbound at the off-ramp to Highway 40 south.

Police said on Thursday at approximately 10:25 p.m. emergency crews responded to the crash that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Lambton OPP posted a traffic advisory to Facebook just before midnight.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they later died.

OPP said it continues to investigate to determine the identity of the victim and to notify the next of kin.

Highway 402 eastbound, the off-ramp to Highway 40, and Modeland Road northbound were closed for several hours while police investigated.

The road re-opened at around 5 a.m. Friday.
