Clear skies expected for overnight Walleye Derby

The annual Bluewater Anglers Summer Walleye Derby gets underway Friday evening.

The fishing boundary for the overnight event will be the same as the Salmon Derby, from the St. Clair River to the south end of Fawn Island, east to the harbor at Grand Bend and north to latitude 43’34” in Lake Huron.

Those with a valid fishing licence can purchase a $10 entry ticket at The Outdoorsman until 4:30 p.m. on Friday. All members of a group or on a boat must have a ticket.

The derby starts at  6 p.m. Friday, July 26 and wraps up at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27.

Prizes will be awarded for the 10 heaviest walleyes, with the top prize being $500.

Winners will be announced immediately after the weigh-in at the Bluewater Anglers Hatchery.
