Sarnia-Lambton Rebound will be celebrating young vendors this weekend with its Youth Makers Expo.
This is the second year the event has been held and was made possible by funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
During the expo Sarnia-Lambton, MPP Bob Bailey and a member of the OTF will be in attendance to celebrate the grant received by the foundation.
Fund Development Coordinator Beverly Horodyski said the funding it received helped with young people.
"Offering programming based on (young people's) input. We did focus groups, we conducted surveys, we did extensive research and development to really find out what the young people were dealing with on a day-to-day basis especially during COVID," she said.
Part of the funding went to create the Youth Makers Expo.
Horodyski said the idea was popular because it would celebrate creativity in young people.
"It's a real coo for the young people because it allows them to really shine and puts a spotlight on their talents," she said.
This year's event will have 36 youth vendors.
"Vendors' ages range from eight years old to 24, so we've got a wonderful group of different age groups," Horodyski said.
She said while the funding period has ended the goal is to continue the event.
"We would like to continue this tradition now because we would like to continue this tradition now because it's become so popular and people ask if it's happening again," said
There is an increase of 22 new vendors from last year.
The event Saturday, July 13 is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Church and will also have live music and food.
Admission is free, but shoppers are asked to bring cash.
