The Bluewater Anglers will host its annual Family Fun Fishing Day on Saturday.
A fishing license is not required for this event as Ontario Family Fishing Week will run until Sunday.
To participate, families must sign in at a booth at Centennial Park near the fountain by the parking lot near the end of London Road at Front Street.
"Everybody must sign in to receive a bucket that can be used to collect your gobies," said the club.
There will be a limited number of fishing rods and bait at the sign-in booth and children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
The club said fishing will be done as a family.
"If your children brought friends, they will count as part of your family for the derby," said the club.
The boundaries are from Ferry Dock Hill to the Government Docks.
The weigh-in is located at the Bluewater Anglers Hatchery at Waterfront Park and will be held from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
There will be prizes for the heaviest pales of gobies caught. It will also be divided by the number of people fishing in each group.
The free event will start at 8 a.m. and there will be free hot dogs and pop following the derby.
It will be rain or shine but will be cancelled if there is thunder and lightning in the area.
