Noah Brown has been sentenced to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter in the death of 62-year-old Allen Schairer.
Brown was one of two people charged in the homicide investigation after Schairer's body was found in his Devine Street home in January 2021.
The 32-year-old was sentenced in Superior Court on Tuesday. Court staff told Sarnia News Today Brown was credited for time served, leaving two years less a day remaining on his sentence.
A second sentence for a charge of break and enter will be served concurrent to the manslaughter court ruling.
A trial coordinator for the Superior Court of Justice said a DNA order was imposed on both counts and a firearms prohibition was imposed for life.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Joshua Tomlinson was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder last week. Tomlinson is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on June 14 to set a date for his parole eligibility hearing.
