'Bigger' Youth Makers Expo returns to Sarnia

Sarnia-Lambton Rebound is encouraging young artisans and crafters to register for the second annual Youth Makers Expo, scheduled to take place on July 13.

The event operates like a typical artisan market but it specifically features young vendors and offers them an opportunity to showcase their talents and build upon their entrepreneurial skills.

The inaugural Youth Makers Expo was held in August 2023 after the organization received grant funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator Maddisyn Fisher said approximately 100 to 200 people came through last year's event.

"We had a great turnout and the vendors did incredibly well. They were able to sell their stuff, they were able to promote their business, it was just a fantastic day," Fisher said.

Fisher said this summer's event will run similar to last year, just "bigger." They're hoping to see 28 to 30 vendors this year.

"Last year we had around 22 and we already have around 12 to 13 applicants so it's been really awesome so far," she said. "If people are interested in being a vendor, I would definitely get your application in as soon as possible."

Registration is currently open and is free. Young people can fill out a vendor application form through Rebound's website.

The Youth Makers Expo will be held at St. Luke's Church and Rebound, located at the intersection of Wellington Street and Indian Road North.
