This year's One Book Lambton program, focused on Women Talking by Miriam Toews, will conclude with a presentation and book signing with acclaimed photographer and author Larry Towell.
The free event will be held at the Sarnia Library Theatre on Friday, May 3, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The 2018 novel, Women Talking, was inspired by the real-life events of an isolated Mennonite community in Bolivia. The story was later adapted into an Academy Award-winning film, directed by Canadian filmmaker Sarah Polley.
Lambton County Library said the film's visual tone was inspired by Towell's book The Mennonites, which was originally published in 2000 and re-released in 2022 with 40 previously unpublished photos.
Towell spent a decade documenting Mennonite communities across Canada and Mexico during the 1990s.
The upcoming presentation with Towell, follows a previous event held earlier this month with Women Talking actor Shayla Brown.
While there is no fee to attend the presentation and book signing, space is limited. Attendees are asked to reserve a spot by registering on the library's website.
