Kids Funfest to be held in August

A new date has been announced for Kids Funfest this summer, as a result of road construction at Canatara Park.

Sarnia Parks and Recreation Manager Krissy Glavin said the event, traditionally held at the beginning of June, will be held on the second Saturday of August.

"Just in light of some roadwork and construction happening, we wanted to ensure we could provide the full event within that same park space, so we're just going to move the event to Saturday, August 10th, in the same location as last year in Canatara Park," said Glavin.

Road resurfacing work at the park started in mid-April.

The 2024 event will still be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as it was in previous years.

"We have a volunteer committee who assists with Kids Funfest, so we had some good discussion with them around it, as well as all of our vendors. We've been in contact with every one of them and they're all set to return," she said.

Funfest is a favourite for many children and families.

"We've just made the adjustment for this year and we hope it will work out really nicely. The time of year, just leading into fall, people can come out and see different vendors and opportunities in our community ahead of summer coming to an end," Glavin said.

More details including a list of vendors, activities, and performances will be released at a later time.
