Annual gala kicks off important milestone for Rebound

An annual gala held in support of Sarnia-Lambton Rebound will mark a significant milestone for the organization this year.

The 23rd annual Hearts for Youth Gala will be held on February 10 at 6 p.m., at Four Points by Sheraton in Point Edward.

Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator Maddisyn Fisher said this year's theme is the 80s.

"Our 80s theme is actually in direct reflection of our 40th anniversary. So this year is actually celebrating 40 years of Rebound which is insane and wonderful, and we're so excited," said Fisher. "This is basically to kick off a whole year of celebrating everything we've been doing for the past 40 years."

Fisher said the gala typically sells out. This year, about 320 tickets will be available, however, most sold quickly.

"Through the gala we raised about $60,000 to $80,000 every single year, which is fantastic," Fisher said.

Tickets cost $125 and include a buffet meal, live entertainment, door prizes, a silent auction, and a dance party.

Funds raised will support youth programming.

"Our programs really focus on healthy life choices, making healthy relationships, and gaining a sense of belonging to the community. So by investing in Rebound, you're really investing in a fantastic future for youth," she said.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Rebound has seen an increase in challenges for young people in Sarnia-Lambton, hence the need for services.

The organization has served over 40,000 youth throughout the county since 1984.
