The Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF) is continuing its tradition of giving back to local residents.
Executive Director Mike Barron said applications are now being accepted for three scholarships, valued in the thousands of dollars.
"The Norma and Don Moore scholarship is for medical and doctors that are in school that are continuing their education," said Barron. "The Society of St Vincent de Paul J&JY Trades scholarship is for students engaged in college courses with the trades. The Joanne Klauke-Labelle scholarship is awarded to a student who is entering a post-secondary education program focused on the performing arts (drama, music, or dance) or visual arts."
Barron said the Sarnia Community Foundation offers a wide range of other opportunities at different times of the year.
"They include mental health scholarships, the trades, doctors, and agriculture as well. So, it is a wide spectrum and knowing that the costs for sending students to school are on the rise, every dollar counts."
Barron said the foundation celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2023. Over that time, the foundation has given back over $10 million to community organizations and projects locally.
"We're looking forward to the next 40 years," he said.
The application deadlines range between March 1 and April 15.
