It's freezing cold out there, and the Sarnia Sting hockey club wants to see your backyard rinks.
The OHL team is inviting fans to submit a picture of their creations for a chance to win a prize pack.
Vice President of Business Operations Jake Bourrie said it's another great way for the team to get out and interact with the community.
"First and foremost, you'll get the chance to play face to face with your favourite Sting players, they'll come and play on your backyard rink with you," said Bourrie. "For the parents, we've got a $500 Esso gas card, courtesy of our sponsors at Imperial, as a little thank you for their efforts. I'm sure there's a lot of driving to and from the rink. We also have a winter swag bag and a flex ticket package to come and see your favourite players live."
Bourrie said they wanted to do the contest last year, but the unseasonably warm winter put a damper on those plans.
"Of course, being in southwestern Ontario, it's an unpredictable climate," he said. "We've had some cold temperatures here as of late and we're looking to take advantage of it."
Overall, the club has been averaging over 4,000 fans in recent weeks. Bourrie said the team can't thank them enough for their continued support.
"It's been incredible," said Bourrie. "We're just so grateful to live and work and play in such a supportive community in Sarnia-Lambton. They've really shown their support for the organization over the past year or so. We just can't thank the fans in the stands and the corporate sponsors enough. We're just looking forward to a really bright future and continuing on this trajectory."
The submission deadline is coming up on Saturday, January 20 at 11:59 p.m.
