Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) has a new interim CEO.
In a media release sent out last Thursday, the agency said CEO Dan Taylor is no longer with SLEP, although it did not specify why Taylor left and only said both parties have decided to part ways.
Matthew Slotwinski has been named Interim CEO effective immediately.
"I think we have a very exciting year ahead and there's a wonderful team to work with who is really here to work to have the Sarnia-Lambton community excel and grow. Having the opportunity to work with and guide that team is something that I'm very much looking forward to," said Slotwinski.
He also said that he now has the opportunity to fill a role that has been held by many great leaders in the past.
"From that we're left, as an organization, in a tremendous position," said Slotwinski. "We effectively know how we need to move forward to be a key contributor to be progress of the Sarnia- Lambton community."
Slotwinski is not new to SLEP. He's been with the agency for 13 years and most recently held the Vice President-Economic Development title.
He said he's hoping to bring his knowledge of the Sarnia-Lambton area to the role.
"What I'm hoping to do is pull all of that experience in through our tremendous teamwork to be able to deliver exceptional projects, activities and work for the community," said Slotwinski.
While challenges coming into 2024 are no surprise he said he's willing to face these head on.
"If we look towards the need to decarbonize local industry in the area, if we look to the need to transition into a low carbon economy, while these are challenges they also present tremendous opportunities," Slotwinski explained.
He believes the community will see capital investment in job growth from the challenges the region is seeing.
Since this is an interim position, it is unclear if Slotwinski will stay in the role permanently.
