Partnership brings Afrique en Cirque to Sarnia

The Centre communautaire Francophone (CCF) Sarnia-Lambton has partnered with Imperial Theatre to bring a cultural, acrobatic performance to the local stage.

Afrique en Circque, by Yamoussa Bangoura and produced by Kalabante Productions, is inspired by life in Guinea.

“Absolutely thrilled to work with the Imperial Theatre to have a show of such magnitude here in Sarnia-Lambton," said CCF Presidente Tanya Tamilio. "Afrique en Cirque, is a colorful story piece, filled with music and talent embracing Nyamakala tradition practiced in West Africa.”

Imperial Theatre Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. said this is the theatre's second time working with CCF.

"The first time was on a smaller show but when they brought this to us, we were thrilled to partner with them. I think that this is such a unique experience for the Sarnia community, like nothing we've ever produced before," he said. "So I'm very excited to give the community an opportunity to see something like this without going to London or Toronto."

Afrique en Circque will be performed at the Sarnia theatre at 7 p.m. on February 7 and February 8.

Austin Jr. said as of Wednesday, tickets are 60 per cent sold out.

Tickets can be purchased online or through the box office by calling (519) 344-7469.
