Sarnia police were asking people to avoid the area of Princeton Avenue for an active investigation, however, officials said there was no risk to community safety.
City police advised the public of a "significant" police presence in the subdivision off of Trudeau Drive in a social media post on Thursday afternoon.
Deputy Police Chief Julie Craddock told Sarnia News Today that tactical officers were in the area as a precaution.
She specified the call for service was not related to an active shooter or barricaded person.
Further details could not be provided as it is an ongoing investigation.
Sarnia police said just before 4 p.m. the active incident had concluded.
"A reduced police presence will continue while the investigation is being conducted. An updated media release will be issued later," the update posted to social media said.
