The mayor of Lambton Shores wants to build on the positive response of a recent publication that named the municipality as one of the top 100 "most livable cities" in the country.
In the overall rankings for Canada, Lambton Shores was listed at 93 out of 439 cities. In Ontario, the municipality was listed at 26.
"It shows the hard work that our staff and our council have done over the last number of years to attract new people to our community and to show that it's a great place to retire and live in," said Mayor Doug Cook. "With the expansion of our infrastructure and housing, it's really been a great place for people to move to."
The Canadian publication based its results on several categories such as economy, housing, demographics, health care, safety, education, community, amenities, transportation, and climate.
For community, Lambton Shores ranked number one in Canada.
"I think that goes back to our community groups," Cook said. "I think we have the best service clubs and community groups anywhere. They're great, they give back to our community, they're fantastic, they're good fundraisers, they're just great people."
For retirement, the municipality was listed second in Ontario.
Other nearby municipalities listed within the top 100 most livable cities in Canada included North Perth at 81 and Middlesex Centre at 89.
