UPDATE: Sarnia police investigate shooting

Sarnia police are investigating after a "firearms related incident" was reported in the area of White Circle and Tashmoo Avenue Wednesday evening.

City police first notified the public about the incident over social media Wednesday night, noting a significant police presence in the area.

One person was treated for minor injuries sustained from a gunshot wound.

In an update issued Thursday morning, police said two people were taken into custody and were waiting for bail court.

"There [are] no concerns for public safety at this time," read the social media post.

Police will continue to be in the area on Thursday as the investigation is ongoing. Residents are asked to avoid the scene. 

In another update Thursday afternoon, police said the victim and two suspects were all 19 years old.

Police also said the victim received a gunshot wound to the back of his shoulder from a handgun.

Both suspects were charged with unauthorized possession and careless use of a firearm. One of the individuals was further charged with possession of prohibited device or ammunition and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
