City staff have been given the green light to streamline the process for production companies to film.
A film permit application and guideline, and a fee/deposit schedule will be created.
It's hoped the approach will also attract big productions.
Sarnia's Director of Economic Development Kelly Provost said similar film policies and permits have helped other municipalities land film projects.

The comment and review period for Sarnia's draft development charges bylaw will continue to March 31, 2024.

Sarnia council is distancing itself from a private property matter involving a business at 637 Lakeshore Road.
Blakes Detailing and Upholstery Services was served notice of a bylaw infraction, regarding the use of portable shelters, earlier this year.
Councillor Bill Dennis asked his colleagues to initiate official plan and zoning bylaw amendments to assist the business owner.
However, the majority of council sided with recommendations from staff.
The tenant and property owner will be directed to processes available through the planning act to seek official plan and zoning bylaw amendments, or to seek relief from the accessory building regulations.
Staff said following the legislated process would ensure a clear separation between council's policy making role and the role of administration is maintained, the treatment amongst the public and other commercial enterprises is maintained, and there is compliance with provisions of the Municipal Act.
Staff added that code of conduct breaches and the appearance of bias in decision making would also be avoided.
