Sarnia residents are being asked to provide input about a possible rural and inter-community transit system in Lambton County.
An online survey was recently launched by the city on behalf of the county, with a deadline set for November 29 at 4 p.m.
County council opted to revisit the possibility of a regional transit system earlier this year and later requested input from local municipalities.
"The city currently has a transit system in place for the main urban area of Sarnia and provides contracted services to the Village of Point Edward," read the Speak Up Sarnia website. "The rural areas of Sarnia do not have conventional transit service but can access the Care-A-Van service."
City of Sarnia Transit Manager Michelle Carter said the short survey consists of about six questions.
"It's just basic questions about [if] they feel the need for an inter-community transit service, would they use it, where would they want to go, what would they use it for, and how often," Carter said.
"We are looking to compile the responses from residents and hopefully have it together for the next regular council meeting, which would be December 11."
As discussed during a September council meeting, an update and an information report regarding a rural transit program will go to county council on November 29.
