There are just five weeks left to go in the annual Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign.
Executive Director Dave Brown said, since the official launch of the campaign in September, they've been tracking ahead of last year's pace.
"Right now as we enter week nine of the 14 week campaign, I'm pleased to say we're at $845,000, which represents 60 per cent of our $1.4 million goal," said Brown.
Brown said so far, 1,800 people have given to the fundraising effort, which helps support 17 local agencies providing over 31 programs and services.
"Our message since the campaign started has been if you've given in the past, please give so again," he said. "And, if you've never given before, recognizing that the need today is greater than it was before, we all see it when we drive downtown, please consider a first-time contribution."
He said donors can also make a targeted gift.
"There are about five to six per cent of donors who direct their gift to a specific agency of their choice," said Brown. "Maybe you're a former little brother and you want to support specifically Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton, or maybe your parent receives Meals on Wheels and you want to support that, so absolutely that option exists."
