Bluewater Health is one of 21 hospital foundations across Ontario participating in the first ever Split the Pot Lottery.
Executive Director Kathy Alexander said 50 per cent of the proceeds will be distributed to 13 Grand Prize Winners, with the remainder directly supporting participating hospitals.
Alexander said locally, the money will go towards the relocation and redesign of the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre at Bluewater Health.
"It's a $600,000 initiative that we're fundraising for, and it's a much needed program to support people that come into the hospital during a very difficult time," said Alexander. "We're proud to be a part of that fundraising campaign. We're excited to be a part of this Split the Pot because it is new, and I think it really highlights the importance of hospital foundations and charities, coming together and working together for similar goals, in this case of course local health care."
The inaugural provincewide lottery, which runs until November 30, saw $600,000 in ticket sales in its first two weeks.
Ticket bundles include 10 for $10, 40 for $20, 160 for $40 and 400 tickets for $60.
