The Sarnia Sting lost to the Owen Sound Attack 6-4 Friday night at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The Attack came in hot during the first period with three goals, two of which were during power plays.
Tyson Doucette scored Sarnia's first goal of the night in the first period with assists from Easton Wainwright and Lukas Fischer.
Sarnia returned in the second with two goals by Cooper Way and Zach Filak.
Wainwright scored another for Sarnia in the third. However, Owen Sound responded with two power-play goals and a final one on empty net to wrap up the game.
Friday marked Wainwright's season debut with the Sting after suffering a pre-season injury.
"Our first period and our third period were not the best. We came out in the second period pretty fine but we [have] to have a full 60 minutes in order to win a hockey game," said Wainwright during a postgame press conference. "The first period, I was trying to get into it again. The second and third I was trying to ramp it up a bit but still, we needed to get the two points at the end of the day."
The Sting are back in action on Sunday to host the Erie Otters at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. Puck drop is set for 2:05 p.m.
You can catch the game live on 103.9FM/1070AM CHOK.
