The Sarnia Sting will have to regroup ahead of a busy weekend schedule after falling to Windsor Friday night 4-2 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Zach Filak scored Sarnia's first goal of the night during the second period with assists from Jacob LeBlanc and Sandis Vilmanis.
The Spitfires flew in with three goals in the third.
Tyson Doucette scored the Sting's second goal late in the third during a power play with assists from Marko Sikic and LeBlanc. However, it was too little too late as Windsor scored its fourth and final goal of the night on an empty net.
Windsor goalie Ian Michelone saved 30 of the 32 shots on net, and Sarnia goalie Nick Surzycia saved 13 of 16 shots.
Despite the loss, Sting General Manager Dylan Seca said he thinks the team played well overall.
"Some nights you play to the best of your abilities in some ways and it doesn't go your way, and that's part of this league - it's a hard league," said Seca during a postgame press conference.
With only 11 games played so far this season, Seca said there are many games ahead to look forward to, and it's just a matter of regrouping.
"Our guys down there are not happy with the result [Friday night] and I think they feel like they were robbed of it," he said. "Let's hope they come back [Saturday] with that energy and that grr in the belly to change the tide."
The Sting are back on the ice on Saturday to face Saginaw at Dow Event Center. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
On Sunday, the Sting are home to Niagara. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
