Hadfield helps raise awareness for brain cancer

An advocate and former astronaut from Sarnia is lending his voice to raise awareness for brain cancer through a Hats for Hope campaign.

Col. Chris Hadfield is working with the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada as this year's national ambassador for the campaign, which started in 2019 to spread awareness and raise funds.

Proceeds from the sale of Hats For Hope toques and hoodies will be used to support research, programs, and advocacy efforts.

"Of the 27 people diagnosed with a brain tumor every day in Canada, eight will find out they have brain cancer," read a media release from the foundation.

As October 24 marks Brain Cancer Awareness Day, supporters are asked to sport a Hats For Hope toque or hoodie and share it on social media, with the hashtag #HatsForHope.
