New features added to Corks, Caps and Cuisine fundraiser

Tickets for Lambton College Foundation's 17th annual Corks, Caps and Cuisine fundraising event are nearly sold out.

The food and beverage fundraiser is scheduled to take place Saturday night at the Lambton College Event Centre.

"Students from our culinary management program [will] create and pair gourmet appetizers under the direction of our Red Seal chef for our guests to enjoy," said Lambton College Foundation Manager Krystyna Kahnert. "All of the food is paired with our vendor products. We have vendors from all over Ontario coming to the event."

Kahnert said there will be 17 vendors offering wine, spirits, ciders, and beer.

A mocktail station will also be set up at the event for those who don't drink alcohol.

Tickets can be purchased online for $100 and will include five sample beverage tickets with the option of purchasing additional drink tickets at the event.

Proceeds will support the school's Funding Futures Capital Campaign, which includes new state-of-the-art chemistry labs.

Kahnert said the event usually sells out and attracts 250 guests. As of Tuesday, they were nearing capacity.

New this year is an ice luge and a mixologist who will be stationed at a specialty drinks area. The event will also feature music provided by DJ Phatfingers.

"One of the neat features about this event is we have designated transportation after the event," Kahnert said. "So if you're drinking, you're arriving home safely."

The transportation sponsor is the Co-Operators Franco Filia and Associates; while the event's presenting sponsor is Wright General Contactors and the gold sponsor is Cestar College.
