The Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) has confirmed that an algae bloom observed near the Grand Bend Yacht Club is not blue-green algae.
The ministry began investigating this week after samples were collected on Tuesday.
Lambton Public Health (LPH) initially said the ministry was investigating a possible blue-green algae bloom in the Ausable River, but later referred to the area as the Ausable River/Parkhill Creek.
Sarnia News Today has reached out to LPH and the ministry for clarification.
The latest update provided by LPH on Friday said testing has confirmed that the detected algae bloom "does not produce toxins with the potential to impact human health."
As a result, LPH said all recreational water activities are safe to resume.
