Lambton College is set to host a mega job fair this Wednesday.
The free event, organized by Lambton College Co-op and Career Services, is being held at the main campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Job developer Kyle Walker said it's designed to help students, graduates and community members find employment.
"We have 90 employers participating from all across Canada," said Walker. "We have local employers, we have employers from other cities. We have companies in all different industries. We've got healthcare, we've got trades, we've got customer service, we have government... you name it, we have it."
Walker said it's a great way for individuals to make themselves stand out.
"I think it all goes back to that handshake and I think people like being able to make connections with others and feel like they have a connection as they're looking through those resumes and trying to determine who the good candidates are and who they want to hire," he said.
Walker said the more resumes you bring, the better.
"Like I said, we have 90 employers [coming.] Many of them have several positions to fill. So, interested candidates can look online and see a complete list of participating employers and from there decide which companies they might be interested in. I recommend bringing at least a couple [resumes] for each company, just in case, so you have a couple extra on hand if needed," Walker said.
A variety of organizations will be in attendance, including: City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, General Dynamics, Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario Power Generation, Community Living Sarnia-Lambton, Sarnia Police Services, Lambton County Developmental Services, Hughes Intelligence, Canadian Armed Forces, TransAlta, Imperial Oil, London Health Sciences, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, RBC and TD.
"In addition to helping local job seekers find work, the job fairs are also a great way to learn about different career opportunities. Employers, they come to Lambton College because they know we have programs they're looking for," he added.
Walker said individuals can also speak with enrollment advisors to learn about different programs.
