Local youth collaborate for Rebound's Finding Nemo Jr.

Local kids with a passion for acting are putting on a couple of special performances at Sarnia's Imperial Theatre this weekend.

Rebound's Act II program presents Finding Nemo Jr., a musical adaptation of the popular 2003 Disney film.

Marketing Coordinator Maddisyn Fisher said the cast ranges in age from eight to 17 years old, and the crew is anywhere from eight to 24.

"Rebound's Act II program is supposed to be about mindfulness and creativity," said Fisher. "It gives youth an outlet to really express themselves. So, the whole point of the program is to offer skills and different ways to express themselves in any way they need to."

Fisher said she's excited to see the kids in action.

"It's basically the same as the movie, and it's just a non-stop fun time from the start of the show all the way to the end," she said. "It follows the journey of Marlin going through the sea trying to find Nemo after he was taken. Then, you find Dory, and that's when all the starts. There are sharks and sea turtles and jellyfish. It's just a really, really awesome play."

The performance features memorable songs such as 'Just Keep Swimming,' 'Fish Are Friends Not Food,' and 'Go With the Flow'.

It's described as bringing a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

The plays are happening on Friday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, September 16 at 2 p.m.
