Sarnia Sting defenceman Nathan Omeri scored two goals, including the overtime-winner, in Team Black's 2-1 win over Team White Thursday night.
Omeri, 17, scored late in the third period to force overtime before scoring in the extra frame to end it. The Etobicoke native was an eighth round pick of the Sting in the 2022 draft, and he signed an OHL Standard Player Agreement with the club in May.
Lane Sim, the Sting's third round pick from this year's OHL draft, scored Team White's lone goal in the first period. Lane's father Jon is the Sting's all-time leader in goals (165) and points (311).
With training camp now wrapped up, the Sting are setting their sights on the upcoming preseason, which begins in London on September 9. Sarnia opens its regular season on September 29 against the visiting Windsor Spitfires.
This year's Black & White Game in Support of United Way brought in a record $5,200 for the Sarnia-Lambton nonprofit. Since its inception the Sting have helped raise an estimated $50,200 to help local United Way programming.
