A summertime tradition in Sarnia's Mitton Village will return this weekend and will feature more kids' activities, as well as live music, food, and craft vendors.
The fifth annual Mitton Village Block Party is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Co-organizer Josh Walters said there was an emphasis this year to include more entertainment for children.
"We've got some inflatables for kids - some large inflatables," Walters said. "The YMCA Project North will be there facilitating games and craft activities."
Around 50 craft and artisan vendors have signed up for the block party.
Several local bands will also perform throughout the day and night. Walters said although the official event ends at 4 p.m., on-stage music will continue until 8:30 p.m.
"I would say [the block party] has a larger footprint this year," Walters said. "We're shutting the whole street down (Mitton Street South) between Davis Street and Wellington Street and then we have more businesses in the neighbourhood than we did in years past."
The block party is organized by those who live and work in the area, who formed a group known as the Mitton Village Citizens Collective.
Further details about specific vendors and details on where to park can be found on the event's Facebook page.
