Major upgrades completed at Watford's Centennial Park

Major upgrades have been completed at Centennial Park in Watford.

Highlights of the project include the resurfacing and reorientation of the tennis and sport courts and the installation of an outdoor “Community Park” featuring adult fitness equipment.

Parks and Recreation Manager Ryan Chamney said the improvements are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents and improving and providing accessible public recreation spaces.

He said the additions will help foster community wellbeing through active participation and build on the amenities available at the East Lambton Community Complex.

Warwick Township Mayor Todd Case said healthy, vibrant communities need welcoming, safe, and well-resourced spaces, adding these projects help achieve that goal.

Other upgrades include new posts and nets and pickleball lines, creating two pickleball courts, as well as new basketball and ball hockey lines.

Case said the projects were identified as recommendations in the Centennial Park and Parkland Design Considerations within the Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Culture Masterplan.

The upgrades were made possible thanks to $107,900 in funding under the Ontario Trillium fund.
