The Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton is hoping to sell more concert tickets for its fifth annual "It's 5 O'clock Somewhere" event, scheduled for Saturday night.
Manager of Fund Development & Communications Marie Marcy-Smids said the dinner portion of the fundraiser for VIP members is completely sold out. However, VIP concert tickets and general admission tickets are still available.
Headliners Red Wanting Blue will perform at the Suncor Agora at Centennial Park on August 19. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the show itself will begin at 8 p.m.
Marcy-Smids said some general admission tickets will be available at the gate but she suggests attendees purchase tickets ahead of time.
Tickets can be purchased online at ticketscene.ca.
"We're looking to raise over $50,000," she said. "That's why we changed venues, and we have a bigger capacity for the dinner, and we now have three bands. We have Red Wanting Blue as our headliner, we have CDDC, and we have Townhall Revival."
Money raised through the event will stay within the Sarnia-Lambton community.
"We are only about 48 per cent funded by the ministry so everything that we raise, we use it to run all of our programs," she said. "We do give a portion of our walk money, a very small portion, to research because that's also important."
Marcy-Smids said the summertime event has sold out during the past three years.
The show is an all-ages event and attendees with children will not have to pay for extra tickets as kids will be allowed free entry.
"We realize that live music is important for all ages and with the economy the way it is, we'd like everybody to be able to have the opportunity to come out. Finding a babysitter is expensive and that's why we've done it this way," she said.
Concert attendees will be allowed to take in lawn chairs and umbrellas if needed. Food vendors will also be stationed at the park as well.
