Police apprehend man in crisis without incident

The public was asked to stay away from the Sarnia Bay area for an incident, which has since been resolved.

There was an increased police presence in the area as they, Lambton EMS and Sarnia Fire and Rescue, dealt with a person in crisis.

Police received the initial call of a person in crisis driving a car at the water's edge around 5:50 p.m.

According to police, the car was positioned to launch into the river. Police vehicles pinned the car to keep it from leaving, though they weren't able to block it from the river.

Police said their crisis negotiator spoke with the man for two hours and by 8 p.m. they apprehended him without incident.

By 8:30 p.m. members of the public were able to return to the waterfront.
