An outdoor theatre rental company is rolling out the red carpet in Sarnia-Lambton.
Wyoming's Moonlight Cinema Events became the area's first backyard theatre rental operation when it launched earlier this month.
The company has two large inflatable screens, along with all of the equipment needed to watch a movie, a concession stand, a vintage popcorn cart, a VIP red carpet and more.
Owner-Operators Rachelle and Nathan Hill had always dreamed of owning their own business. Rachelle, a manager at Lambton College, said the dream became a reality after they began planning for their daughter Nell's third birthday party.
"We were looking for something similar in the area to do for her birthday and found that there wasn't anything like it, so the idea kind of just came out of that," she said. "We found that there seems to be a market for it, so we thought 'hey, maybe this is our opportunity to get in on something really cool.'"
Nathan, a personal banker by day, said it seemed like London would be the closest area that's offering a similar service.
"And for a lot of people that's a little bit out of reach," he said. "So it was important to us to set something up that would kind of serve our local area."
The company covers all of Sarnia-Lambton and it offers three different packages: The DIY, Basic, and All-Access.
Rachelle said they recently held a soft-launch, and now, they're working on getting their name out there to see what the interest is like.
"And as the business grows, we will be offering some more things -- we've some ideas in the works," she said. "So we're just kind of starting and seeing where it goes."
