SCRCA seeking comment on disposition of a few conservation areas

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) wants to know what you think about transferring the ownership of Highland Glen and C.J. McEwen Conservation Areas to the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

Public consultation on proposals for the separate Lakeshore Road properties is underway.

Conservation Areas Manager Greg Wilcox said the comment period is mandatory.

"The comment period is open for 45 days, from July 12 to August 25," said Wilcox. "It's a chance to review the draft purchase agreements and conservation easements for both conservation areas. There is a proposed disposition of those properties to Plympton-Wyoming."

The proposed agreements can be reviewed by clicking here.

"Following the completed comment period, the authority and the municipality will determine if any final adjustments to the agreements/easements are necessary to address comments received," he added. "Final approvals will then be required from the authority board and municipal council."

Comments can be submitted by email to [email protected].

Plympton Wyoming council approved a transfer that would see Highland Glen become a municipal park in 2021.

The care and control of C.J. McEwen Conservation Area was transferred from SCRCA to the municipality in 2020.
