Annual shoreline cleanup Saturday

Volunteers are invited to help keep the St. Clair River shoreline clean.

Bluewater Anglers Hatchery Operator Ross Bishop said the yearly shoreline cleanup begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 17.

He said volunteers will pick up garbage from near the Starlight Casino in Point Edward, underneath the Blue Water Bridge, toward the lighthouse and around the boat launch.

"There is a fair amount of garbage that gets picked up," said Bishop. "I thank everybody that does come out and help because it's a lot of work and it's our waterfront and I like to keep it nice."

Bishop said volunteers are asked to meet at the Bluewater Anglers hatchery just north of the Blue Water Bridge at 9 a.m., and garbage bags will be provided.

The event wraps up at 11 a.m. with a hotdog lunch.
