NOVA donates $50K to feed those in need

NOVA Chemicals has donated $50,000 to The Inn of the Good Shepherd.

The company made the funding announcement on Thursday and also highlighted the work of its employees, who served over 500 meals to those in need during a “soup kitchen takeover" held in May.

“We firmly believe in the importance of creating sustainable and thriving communities, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to give back to our neighbours in a meaningful way,” said NOVA Chemicals’ VP of Manufacturing East Rob Thompson. “This project has been a significant undertaking for NOVA and we are grateful for the tremendous efforts that have been put forward by our talented and dedicated construction and commissioning teams over the past several years."

Between the meals served in May and the recent donation made to The Inn, 7,500 meals will be given to those in the Sarnia-Lambton community. NOVA said the amount signifies the number of people who helped build and commission the company’s new Rokeby Site polyethylene facility.

In addition, NOVA Chemicals will donate one meal to The Inn for every employee who uses the hashtag #NOVAGivesBack on LinkedIn throughout the month of June.

“We at The Inn are so grateful to NOVA Chemicals and their leadership in the Sarnia-Lambton region and we are honored for this opportunity to partner with them as caring hands for our community members in need,” said The Inn's Executive Director Myles Vanni in a media release.

Over the past five years, NOVA Chemicals has contributed over $160,000 to The Inn, read a media release.
