Police say unmarked cruiser rammed during drug arrest

An investigation by the Sarnia Police Vice Unit has led to drug trafficking charges against two people from Toronto.

On the evening of Wednesday, June 7, officers stopped a vehicle on Russell Street South.

Police said during the stop, the driver allegedly rammed an unmarked police vehicle with two officers inside, in an attempt to evade arrest.

No injuries were reported, but the cruiser sustained some damage.

The suspects were eventually taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found 419.83 grams of methamphetamine, 165.61 grams of fentanyl, 66.05 grams of cocaine and $552.75 in Canadian currency.

Police said the total street value of drugs and cash seized was about $58,450.25.

Martins Omoregie, 24, of Toronto, faces the following charges:

- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine - Dangerous Driving

Nana Opoku, 22, of Toronto, faces the following charges:

- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl - Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine - Fail to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

Both suspects were held pending bail hearings. Charges against the accused have not been proven in court.
