Sting win back-to-back to tie west final with Knights

It's down to a best-of-three between the Sarnia Sting and London Knights in the OHL Western Conference final.

The Sting downed the Knights 6-3 on home ice Wednesday, Sarnia's second win from The Hive in consecutive nights, to tie the championship series at 2-2.

Nolan Burke had two goals and an assist and was named the game's first star, Sasha Pastujov had three helpers, and Sting goaltender Ben Gaudreau made 23 saves in the win.

Sarnia's Brenden Anderson opened the scoring at 3:19 of the first period, his third goal of the playoffs. Ty Voit put the Sting up 2-0 with a power play goal at 10:05. The Knights responded at 15:48, then again at 17:40 on the power play to make it 2-2 after 20 minutes.

The road team took their first lead of the game 10:57 when Denver Barkley tipped home a point shot. The Sting then responded in a big way, starting with a power play goal from Burke at 12:37 to tie things at 3-3. Just over two minutes later, Marcus Limpar-Lantz deflected a Voit pass into the Knights' net to put Sarnia in front, 4-3. And at 18:29, the Sting restored their two-goal lead when Easton Wainwright scored his sixth of the postseason -- Sarnia led 4-2 heading into the third period.

Gaudreau turned away eight London shots in the final frame and Burke scored a short-handed, empty net goal with over five minutes to play en route to the 6-3 victory.

The Sting's power play went 2 for 4 in the game and is now 4 for 12 in the series.

London rookie goaltender Zach Bowen made his second straight start in relief for the injured Brett Brochu -- Bowen made 22 saves.

Game five of the series goes Friday night in London, and Game six is set for Sunday afternoon back in Sarnia. All of the action can be heard on CHOK (103.9 FM/1070 AM).
