Landlords and building owners are invited to learn about fire safety from some local experts.
Sarnia Fire and Rescue will host a Multi-Residential Fire Safety Workshop Wednesday.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Roel Bus said they will go over general requirements of the Ontario Fire Code and responsibilities.
"We're doing a multi-residential workshop to building owners, property managers, really anyone who has any kind of responsibility in the safety and wellbeing of the residents of a building," said Bus. "It's an information session mostly on fire safety, fire safety requirements like smoke alarms obviously."
Bus said the last workshop was held in 2019.
"We'll talk about legislation, what's required, and then also what are good ideas and general safety tips," he said. "There's definitely an enforcement portion to this as well, but for the most part it's information and education."
The workshops are from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 265 Front Street, in the 5th floor Gateway Room.
Participants are asked to register with Sarnia Fire Rescue Services Fire Prevention Division by phone at 519-332-1122 or email at fireprevention@sarnia.ca.
