Sarnia rock band 'Lazymouth' releases new album

A three piece rock band from Sarnia has released its third studio album, and the first in six years.

Lazymouth's "XIII" is available for streaming on platforms including Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music.

It was recorded and produced locally, at The Grove Productions, and marked the first time Lazymouth recorded outside of their home studio.

Singer and Guitarist Tyler Feeley said the songs have a lot of meaning to him, and says there are some hidden truths found deep in the lyrics.

"I hear a lot of people say that it's got a 90's sound to it, maybe because music wasn't as produced then as it is now," said Feeley. "It's got an older sound, but there's a lot of energy and groove and a lot of really nice bass and drum work that's grooving in the back with the guitar being the icing on top there."

Feeley said the lyrics focus on themes like relationships, break ups, and seeing friends struggle with addiction.

"Each song is a story, each song is a poem," he said. "They're true stories that are heartfelt with a lot of emotion. You can definitely feel the energy when you listen to it. Our live shows are really good, so I hope a lot of people can start coming out and we can start getting some shows going here because the energy is good and there's no denying it."

Feeley is joined by bassist Ryan Kane, along with Crog on drums.

"We wanted to keep it real and raw because that's how it sounds during our live show," he said. "The band sounds big for a three piece. There's a lot of variety, with some harder rock songs and some not so hard ones."

He said the number 13 really took on special significance throughout the writing process.

There are 13 tracks, and they started jamming and coming up with tunes on January 13, 2022.

"It was actually on January 13, 2023, one year later, that the tracks were done so that was kind of funny. My last vocal track was finished on March 13 and the album started streaming on April 13."

The band has two other albums, their 2015 self titled EP and Down the Road which was put out in 2017.
