Lambton OPP is reminding livestock owners to conduct a daily perimeter check after four horses got loose in the Petrolia area over the weekend.
Cst. Jamie Bydeley said officers were called to the 3500 block of Petrolia Line at around 11 a.m. Sunday.
A photo shared by police, asking if anyone recognized the animals, showed three horses roaming a greenspace, one lying on its side and some horse droppings on the ground.
Bydeley said the owners of the farm animals saw the social media post shared by police, attended the scene and helped wrangle the horses around 12:30 p.m.
Bydeley said many situations could compromise an otherwise secure enclosure, and without doing a thorough walk-around, the insecurity may go unnoticed until it’s too late.
