Lambton College hosts large hiring event

Over 80 employers will be accepting resumes at Lambton College on Tuesday during a job fair.

The large hiring event, held in partnership between Lambton College Co-op & Career Services and Community Employment Services, will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Some of the organizations represented at the job fair will include the City of Sarnia, County of Lambton, Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario Power Generation, Canadian Coast Guard, TransAlta, and area hospitals.

"We host several job fairs throughout the year, some larger [and] some smaller," said Job Developer Kyle Walker. "But we try to host two large events, one in the fall semester, one in the winter semester."

The career fair is open to everyone at no cost. Free parking will also be available in lots 10 and 11 for those who register online. Parking details and an employer list can be found on the college's website.

Job seekers are encouraged to "dress to impress" and have resumes ready to hand out to prospective employers.

"First impressions are key and so with that, we want to make sure people are dressed appropriately -- as if they were attending a job interview. Bring lots of resumes, come prepared to really sell yourself," said Walker.

He said these types of job fairs are typically very well-attended. The job fair will be held inside the school's Athletics & Fitness Complex.
