Damage is estimated at around $150,000 after a fire early Monday morning at 525 Pointe Line in St. Clair Twp.
Firefighters from the Port Lambton and Beecher stations responded at around 12:15 a.m.
Fire Chief Richard Boyes said there was smoke coming from the home when they arrived.
"Port Lambton made an aggressive interior attack, and found the fire growing in a first-floor room," said Boyes. "They quickly extinguished the fire and then performed an overhaul to check for any fire extension."
Boyes said the damage could have been far worse without the prompt response from fire crews.
"Five minutes later, it might have been a different story," he said. "I'm happy with the decisive action of the crews, they did a great job and got it knocked down."
Boyes said the cause is believed to be electrical in nature.
No injuries were reported to either the residents or firefighters.
