Funeral planned for beloved SWIFF founder

The life of the beloved founder of the South Western International Film Festival (SWIFF) will be celebrated at Sarnia's Imperial Theatre Friday, January 20.

Ravi Srinivasan, 37, died suddenly over the weekend.

In his obituary, his family said a funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at a place very special to him, the Imperial Theatre, 168 Christina Street North, Sarnia, at 4:00 p.m.

A visitation is planned the night before, on Thursday, January 19, at Smith Funeral Home on London Line from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Imperial Theatre Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. said on Monday that Srinivasan would be missed.

"His vision in creating SWIFF provided an incredible opportunity for the city to be exposed to cinema and art that otherwise, a lot of people wouldn’t have had access to," said Austin Jr.
