Police arrest suspect in armed gas bar robbery

Sarnia police have made an arrest following an armed robbery at a gas bar on London Line.

Officers were called to the business at around 6 a.m. on January 10.

Police said a female suspect, in possession of a firearm, made off with a quantity of cash and other items.

Police were able to identify the suspect and members of the Emergency Response Team and Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a residence on January 13.

It's alleged they found the accused, evidence from the robbery, and what was determined to be a pellet gun.

The accused, Denise Ellen McKaig, 45, of Sarnia, was charged with one count each of robbery using a firearm, pointing a firearm, disguise with intent, and using a firearm while committing an offence.

McKaig was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are thanking the public for their assistance in this matter.
