The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG) is hosting two lectures this month that coincide with the themes of current exhibitions.
The first lecture of the series, Art & Ideas, will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 7 p.m.
The cofounders of creative and technology firm TMRRW Inc., Liwordson Vijayabalan and Lewis Menelaws, will discuss the future of art and creative expression through augmented reality and artificial intelligence.
JNAAG partnered with TMRRW Inc. ahead of the launch of its "Re View" exhibition in November. One of the aspects included allows patrons to experience the Thom Building through a different lens by scanning a QR code on their hand-held device.
The second Art & Ideas lecture will be held in-person and online on Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m.
American academic and author Grace Dillon will join the lecture virtually to discuss Indigenous Futurism, which she describes as different forms of media used to express Indigenous perspectives in the context of science fiction and related sub-genres.
The events are free. Pre-registration is required and can be completed online through the gallery's website.
