The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has issued a water safety and flood outlook for the region.
Environment Canada had a rainfall warning posted most of the day Tuesday, but it was lifted at around 4:30 p.m.
Beginning Tuesday and continuing through Wednesday, rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm were forecast in Sarnia-Lambton. Higher amounts were possible in other areas.
The SCRCA said water levels across the watershed remain elevated and the ground is generally saturated from last week’s rainfall and snowmelt.
Additional precipitation to the system was anticipated to further elevate water levels with the potential for minor flooding into natural floodplain areas, parks and fields. Increased runoff and ponding was also said to be possible.
Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.
The SCRCA continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories should flood issues arise.
